“Festival of Lights”… Row of lamps, victory from the good, wearing new clothes, etc. Well, according to Wikipedia, this celebration is of great importance in India. People get together in the family to celebrate. I’m not sure we have the same on this side of the world, but we probably should. I wear new things every 31st December but when do we celebrate good just for that: good… Not sure.

I discovered for the first time this celebration in Cupertino, California. Interesting, massive, passionate, and diverse, the Indian community is always welcoming you. Thanks to my new job, I have tasted this and I have now the chance to be immersed in this community. I’m always for meeting new people, new ways of thinking. You never know…

For once in my life, I attended today Indian folkloric dances. I miss my folkloric dances, for sure. I was 15 when I last dance seriously on my Greek music. When I saw today the color, the energy, the passion of the youth dancing, it reminded meĀ  … me :-) . More seriously, I respect this young generation, and their parents, who desire to keep tradition and culture alive and kicking while still being a part of where they live. This will define them in their future. It takes effort but it is worthy.

I will remember from this day color, food, smiles and my kids who were dancing on indian music, and not just on Jay Ho :-) .

Dear readers, I hope the photographs will make justice to all of that. I cut it short as usual, but those photographs below are the one who have retained my whole attention. Enjoy!
