Having the chance to attend such fabulous moments in a family’s life is what this is all about. And we when you come home, sort through the photographs, and look back at those good moments of somebody’s day, it is pure joy for me. Those photographs are a chance to make people truly happy. It is a privilege to be truly and emotionally happy nowadays. Moreover, it is not given to everyone to be allowed in the inner circle of a family. This is also what I call intimacy. So, I am very humbled and grateful of the trust put in my person.

Merci! Let’s do it. Let’s do it again and again and again :-)

Always on the move… 04/2011

by Administrator on May.03, 2011, under Family

It was Easter time, and the Egg Hunt was officially opened. I had a photo session scheduled that day with a nice, young and dynamic crowd. While previously talking and preparing the family session, we decided to take the opportunity of getting a few photographs while the kids were looking for those eggs.

Well, I had two senior boys there, a teenager girl and two lower age kids. The parents were present too. The family wanted natural portraits within their kid’s environment. For the bigger ones, sport was their thing. They play it well and nice portraits came out of the session. The small kids were let go so to be themselves and fool around. Perfect! The teenager was watching them and pouring all the affection she had for them. Everyone had a role in this session. They wanted real moments of their day to day life laid down on a photographic paper pinned on a wall. Very laid back atmosphere. I think we got it. And … oh yeah… they are nomads :-) . They are moving again. Their company relocated them. This photo session had its weight of nostalgia.

All in all we captured true and tender family time. Here is subset of the photographs created that day. Right… let go that chocolate now… Easter is passed and gone. No excuse anymore (so he says :-) ).

A walk in the park – 01/2011

by Administrator on Feb.08, 2011, under Family, Kids

Hello there!

I must admit. I am short on time nowadays. I had a great shoot last week with a super family and super kids, and I can only find the time now to post the photographs… Who would believe this, for people knowing me? Anyway, I am trying to keep up.

So, I photographed this family for a while now. This year, we decided to photograph them outdoor. Even though the weather has been quite cold in the days preceding our session, that day was warm and colorful! Perfect timing. We walked into a little park area and let the kids play alone and together. We obviously added Mum and Dad into the game, as well as grand Pa and grand Ma who were just there that day! Perfect opportunity for tender souvenirs.

I think we have captured nice moments in the photographs below. As usual, I let you be the judge…

Lavault Family – 11/2010

It was about time :-) !

We scheduled this session probably two years ago. Well, things have happened in the meantime…

So we finally caught up with the kids and the parents. The photo session occured late afternoon. The tonality of the scenes in front of us were ideal for color photographs. I had a good feeling about it… The black and white came out pretty well too.

The family has wanted to ‘freeze’ the kids in time. Understand them: they do not stop to grow, and this, so fast. So, before the kids change too much, they wanted to have photographs that depicted their sons with simplicity and emotions. The parents wanted to remember who the kids were in a few years from now. We never forget that for sure, but sometimes an image, a sound or a photograph can send us back in time into a small bublle of comfort to let us “remember” for a while.

That is what this session was about. I can see a few definitve keepers for the walls of their house. Dear parents, thank you for allowing me to be part of your time line…

Here it is for you.

Maud & Matt 10/09

by Administrator on Nov.17, 2009, under Family

I felt honored when Maud asked to work again together to capture images of her son Skye, who has grown so unbelievably up since our last photo session only a few months ago. This time gain, we also took advantage of Skye sleep time to capture images of Maud and her companion Matt, indoor and outdoor.

I like the result very much. I can see in these photographs the emotion that characterize very much Maud, the cool personality of Matt and the energy and positive attitude of Skye. We have several pictures that really captured the love of the mother and the father for their children. And that is what I’m all about.

One side note. Along that bridge you see here below, we discovered we had some fan watching us during the photo shoot. We had the usual ducks, birds, squirrels, etc. but also a venomous snake. Very troublesome for such a public park we were in, should I add. Conclusion: watch it before you sit on it ;-0).

This was a good session. Thank you, Maud and the gang.

We went close by my place at the park to get the family new pictures. We had a great time and good weather. We were there early and started slowly. A few hours later, it was a wrap and we got most of what we wanted. So, have a look here…

Emma & Fred Family 08/2009

by Administrator on Sep.08, 2009, under Family, Kids

I met with Emmanuelle a few weeks ago. Emmanuelle and her husband Frederic wanted some yearly pictures of the family. It’s a tradition.

I have to say I felt it was a great opportunity for me, as they are a beautiful family.

They are used to photographers, I gathered. Nevertheless, they wanted to try something different this year. Probably, more on the casual side. Perfect, I was in!

From what I have gathered from our first encounter, I could foresee great pictures of the whole family and, I hoped, unique photographs of their daughters in their own house. They have incredible eyes, a definite “joie de vivre” and they seem to be ok with me hanging there taking photographs.

We decided back then to shoot on the day of the 23rd of August 2009, and we would be working with classical black background to some extent, but we would also spend a lot of time in the parent’s bedroom, and the daughter’s too. The rooms are lovely. I had a few ideas running through my mind already.

09-08-09 UPDATE

Here we are. I just received permission from the parents to publish the photographs. I have to emphasize the pleasure I took during the session. I’m very grateful for the whole family, indeed. We started at 09:00 AM and the girls were immediately excited to play around the lens; the lights and the equipment did not bother them at all. The parents played their parts too, with “brio” I might add. Everyone is to congratulate for their good humor and good patience, kids and grown-ups.

I posted here a part of the photographs, maybe the ones I deemed the more unique of the session. I added a few others on the web site, which I picked among those that maybe touched me the most. It is always difficult when it comes down to a choice… So, make sure to look also on my web site in the :”Kids\Portraits” section.

Dear parents, I would like to conclude by thanking you for the trust you put in me when you decided we would work together. The result is fabulous. I’m honored and surely very proud of the photographs.
