California – 06/2011

Well, I am always stating that I am mostly inspired by photographing people. For those who do not know me yet, woman portraiture is where I get all my energy from.

I was in California around Santa Cruz, Carmel and Moss beach. I have to admit that the beauty seen in those areas is far from being over-rated, to the contrary of other parts of California.

Walking in woods, on the beach, etc. made me realize how the light was superb over there. Definitely, those would be great locations for outdoor portraiture. The light makes a photograph, in big part. On those locations, great images can be created with such gorgeous light.

So, here is a few photographs I took while over there. Enjoy!

New York – 04/2011

by Administrator on Apr.25, 2011, under On the side

“New-York, here I come” were my words when I departed for the Big Apple. Well… Living now in a suburb area, I had forgotten how exciting could be the city life.

Coming from an intermediate size city on the other side of the pond, I was excited when I moved to Texas as I found quietness and low stress level in my area. And so far, I am still a big fan of a quite life. But sometimes, life can be a bit too dull. Lack of ambiant energy, lack of noise, lack of “let’s just do this today”…

Well, lack of things to do. Let’s talk about it. Even though I have not faced NY in the winter, everything is close by in NY. The subway is top notch and easy to navigate, except for those specific rules regarding a stroller crossing the gates! Long story… :-( Little stores are at a walking distance. What a miracle for me! Restaurants are not part of a gigantic national chain and they are quite. People treated us well enough, contrary to what I have been told.

Obviously, a car is  a no go, and not needed most of the time. Cabs are here when needed. Although they definitely are in a better mood if you pay cash…

We had rain and cold during our stay, as well as a bit of sun. Well, it reminded me my hometown in Europe. I’m used to it and it did not bother (too much) the kids.

Back to reality. Not sure how people can afford to live there. Constant exposure to noise is definitely not good for the mind, at least mine. And we have Whole Foods Markets here too. So, great vacation site when I need a “bain de foule”. But for that, I will stick with my 40degC of my texan summers :-)

In the meantime, enjoy the photographs below.

Vegas 12/2009

by Administrator on Feb.17, 2010, under On the side

Ah Vegas! Vegas, Vegas, Vegas. It is a special place. I’m not a big gambler but it must be all that luxurious hotels, spa and shows that attracts me there. I went in a few months ago. And it blew me away, once again. Seems like the activity is picking up again, and Christmas in Vegas ain’t bad at all. They just need to find water now ;-) . As usual, here is my trip told with photographs.
